How to get Involved - Existing YWAMer

A group of local Christians was sent out to an unreached people group. During prayer time, some of them saw a picture of a place with mountains and descriptions of its surroundings. As they set off, lo and behold, they arrived at a village with the same picture they saw during prayer time. Someone came to receive them and they soon found out he was the head of the village. As the conversation continues, they soon found out that this man has a broken short wave radio stuck on one channel and where it was stuck was the gospel channel! He had been praying that if God is real, He will bring someone to him so that he can learn more about the God of the Bible. What an amazing God!

The Chinese church of today has evolved from the days of 20 years ago where some of their main need is for bibles and evangelism. Many of us have heard about the revivals that have been taking place in China. Today, the size of churches range from a few hundred, a few hundred thousands, to a million. As the church expand, new challenges faces the Chinese church. The need for discipleship, equipping Christians and leaders and finances for the church to grow has become an increasing demand.

Currently, the ministry is involved in training, equipping local Christians and leaders. The framework for our work in China is based on a Business as Missions (BAM) concept You will be using your skills via the BAM model to help the church and reach out to the community.

We are looking for workers who will partner with us for a minimum period of 2 to 3 years to see God's kingdom expand. There are also short-term opportunities available (click here for more information).

For our long-term team members, we do require that a Discipleship Training School (DTS) is completed. The DTS is the entry level for anyone coming on staff with Youth with a Mission (YWAM).

If you have yet to complete a DTS, we recommend that you do a DTS at YWAM Hong Kong. It will help prepare you for your entry into China. If you are 35 and above, we recommend that you do a Crossroad DTS at Kona, Hawaii.

If you have completed a DTS but feel that you need more preparation for long term work, we recommend that you complete a School of Frontier Missions at YWAM Hong Kong. For those of you who are thinking of English teaching, we recommend that you complete a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language) course at YWAM Pennsylvania
